This app contains Chapter 13 from the First Book of Samuel in the Bible (1 Samuel 13). In this chapter, the ancient Israelites are at war with the Philistines, and Prophet Samuel rebukes King Saul for his unlawful sacrifice and disobedience to God (YHWH or Yahweh). God also appoints Saul's successor, David, "a man after His own heart". The text used is from the King James Version (KJV).
Who was Prophet Samuel?
Samuel was a leader and prophet of ancient Israel in the Books of Samuel in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). In rabbinical literature, Samuel is viewed as the last of the Hebrew Judges and the first of the major prophets who began to prophesy in the ancient Land of Israel. He was thus at the transition between two major historical and scriptural eras. According to the Books of Samuel, he also anointed the first two kings of the Kingdom of Israel, Saul and David.
